- Estate Planning. - Preparing wills, trusts, and related documents. Designing estate plans to reduce estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer taxes and to ensure orderly and cost-effective estate administration. Charitable giving and the use of private foundations. Life insurance trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, generation-skipping trusts, family limited partnerships and limited liability companies, grantor trusts and charitable remainder and charitable lead trusts. Powers of attorney and living wills and planning for health care.
- Estate and Trust Administration. - Assisting personal representatives in carrying out their duties. Advising trustees regarding their duties, tax and investment responsibilities, as well as interpreting trust provisions. Preparing and filing documents and accountings to commence, administer, and close estate proceedings; handling estate debts; settling claims; collecting assets; distributing assets; resolving tax issues; and preparing tax returns.
- Succession Planning. - Advice with respect to lifetime gifting programs and effective family-owned business transition planning. Designing ownership and management structures to facilitate succession planning. Preparing wills and trusts, entity documents and buy-sell agreements that contain appropriate estate planning and wealth management provisions. Disability and life insurance planning and identifying and creating alternatives to financing succession transactions.
