History
How we arrived here
The story of Roberts Kaplan can be told in one line: a new law firm 20 plus years in the making. Actually, only our name is new. Our firm is well established and has served leading Northwest businesses since 1987. Our practice, people, insight and attention have not changed. Even our phone numbers and address are the same. (We do, however, have a fancy new logo and fresh new business cards you'll want to collect.)
In the beginning, our lights went on as the Portland office of Foster Pepper & Riviera. Before long, we did some shuffling and our name became Foster Pepper Shefelman. In 2003, the firm merged with Tooze Duden Creamer Frank & Hutchison and out of it emerged Foster Pepper Tooze. We later shortened our name to Foster Pepper LLP.
As our firm and practice evolved, it became clear that we were moving in a different direction than our Seattle affiliate. We opted to dissolve our connection with Foster Pepper on June 1, 2009. It was an amicable split and we truly wish our Seattle colleagues well.
The result of our parting was the birth of a new law firm -- in name only. Roberts Kaplan. Say it three times for practice. Write it on your hand if you need to. We look forward to a great future continuing to serve our clients.
