Roberts Kaplan handles a broad range of litigation related to business, securities and antitrust, employment, real estate, construction, banking and finance, debtor-creditor matters, construction, and insurance. Our lawyers have extensive trial experience in state and federal courts in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and California. We handle state and federal appeals, court-annexed and private arbitrations, bankruptcy adversary proceedings, and contested administrative hearings involving health and safety or labor and employment issues.
We also understand the business implications of a lawsuit. Whether it's counseling employers, reviewing contracts and other business documents, advising business lawyers and clients on the best methods to structure and document a transaction or settlement, or representing a party in mediation, we work hard to help our clients limit or avoid the expense and disruption of litigation.

- Business, Corporate, and Securities Litigation — Representing private and public business entities, as well as individuals, in matters involving breach of contract, common law fraud and conspiracy, claims, securities law, antitrust and unfair competition, interference with contracts and business relationships, claims involving non-compete agreement issues, misappropriation of trade secrets, corporate governance issues, including partnership, member, and shareholder disputes, officer/director and member/manager liability, acquisition and sale of companies, dissolution of corporations, and state and federal RICO laws.
- Employment Litigation/Employment Counseling — Representing corporate and individual employers in wrongful termination, discrimination, and other employee disputes, and counseling employers as to all aspects of employee relations, including personnel policies, compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, and pre-termination issues and enforcement of non-compete agreements.
- Commercial Lease Litigation — Representing property owners, retailers, and tenants in all aspects of commercial landlord/tenant relationships, including lease termination, unlawful detainer, rent disputes, and eminent domain/bonus value disputes.
- Real Property Litigation — Representing title companies, land owners, purchasers, and sellers in actions involving purchase and sale agreements, title and boundary disputes, eminent domain, partition, adverse possession and prescriptive easements, brokers' commissions, and premises liability.
- Banking and Financial Litigation/Debtor-Creditor Relations — Representing lenders and borrowers in actions involving promissory notes, security instruments, lender liability, judicial foreclosure, receiverships, injunctions, provisional remedies before trial and enforcement of judgments, and representing debtors and secured creditors in adversary proceedings.
- Construction Litigation — Representing developers, property owners, manufacturers, and contractors in cases involving construction defects, construction contracts, mechanic's liens, stop notices, and design liability.
